The Roman City of Jerash

Jerash is considered one of the largest and most well-preserved sites of Roman architecture in the world outside Italy. Its imposing ceremonial gates, colonnaded avenues, temples and theatres all speak to the time when this was an important Roman center. The striking Hadrian’s Arch, was built for the visit of Emperor Hadrian in AD 129.
