The Hewa Tribe
In the very remote jungle of central Papua New Guinea live the Hewa tribal people. They were one of the last peoples in PNG to come into contact with the outside world. They number about 2,000 persons, and their rugged rainforest terrain comprises about 200 square miles some of which was unexplored until 2008. The Hewa culture includes murderous raids, payback killings and fearful superstitions; where women accused of witchcraft are killed.
