The lodge’s tree deck quickly became our favorite perch. Here, with glasses of wine, we watched buffalo drift to the salt-lick waterhole at dusk.

While the menu may be simple, it’s the kind of simplicity that’s intentional — every dish thoughtfully prepared, hearty enough to fuel forest walks and river explorations, and comforting enough to make you slow down and savor each bite. More than once, we found ourselves planning a walk simply to make room for what we knew was coming next.

What truly elevates the experience, though, is the service. The staff carry a rare balance of warmth and attentiveness — friendly without fuss, helpful without intrusion. They seem to instinctively know when to step in and when to step back, allowing the retreat to unfold at your own pace.
